Groundhogs and Summer
I have never quite understood the concept of Groundhog Day. If the groundhog sees its shadow doesn't that mean it's sunny and summer will come sooner? I have never understood that.
Why do we even let a groundhog decide if there is six more weeks of winter? Isn't that Mother Nature's decision?
Is this even considered a holiday? If so, could we please at least have no school?
Anyway, so apparently this year the groundhog saw its shadow. Six more weeks of winter. I don't hate winter. But it's not my favorite. I sometimes stay up till early hours of the morning thinking about summer. This sounds ridiculous. I just really want summer to come.
Things I love about summer:
- When your face feels stiff after you get a little bit sunburned
- The smell of sunscreen and mosquito repellent
- The feeling of not having any homework
- When it's 9:00 at night and it's still not dark
- Keeping the windows open at night
- Flip Flop tan lines
- Not having to find a jacket or coat before you go outside
- Laying in the hammock in my backyard
- Early morning bike rides to Cheese Park with my dear friend Maegan
- Warm rain
- Not wearing any shoes. Ever.
- Not getting ready for the day
- The smell of freshly cut grass
- Endlessly eating snow cones
Let's be honest here. Whats not to love?
